Program Board Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where is your office located?
A: While we are members of the Student Activities staff, we do
not reside in SUB 1. We are housed within the PB office in
JC 237. Come visit!
Q: Who can be on PB?
A: The only restrictions PB has are for executive positions;
those students are selected through an interview process at
the end of each spring semester. Committee membership is
open to all GMU students and you can serve on more than one
committee. You can sign up to volunteer by coming to the
office (JC 237) or contacting one of our executive members
at one of our events.
Q: Who plans Mason Day, Patriot's Day, and Homecoming.
A: Mason Day and Patriot's Day are completely student run
events sponsored by PB. While PB participates in various
aspects of planning Homecoming, the event is a collaboration
between University Life, Athletics, and Alumni Affairs. Want
to have a say in what PB plans and get to see a major event
planned from the ground up? Come sign up for one of our
committees in the PB office in JC 237!
Q: Do I have to pay to watch movies in the cinema?
A: Cinema admission is free to all GMU students with a valid
student ID. Admission for Faculty and Staff is $1 with Mason
ID. Members of the community are welcome to attend films
with a $3 admission fee. All attendees receive free popcorn.
Q: Is there anything to do on campus?
A: There is! On Tuesdays PB sponsors an acoustic music series
in Jazzman's café (located on the ground floor of the JC).
Past performers have included Honor by August, Shwa, and
many others. If you have talent and are interested in
performing please contact PB's Concert's Chair. On Thursday,
Friday, and Saturday PB also sponsors a film series in the
JC Cinema. There are 2 showings per day, 6pm and 9pm.
Perfect times for you to go out to dinner and come back to
campus to watch a film. PB also sponsors the Every Freakin'
Friday series. What does this mean? It means there is a
different event every single Friday of the month. These
events range from magicians and illusionists, to comedians,
to bands. On the first Friday of each month there is also
the opportunity to participate in Happy Hats, a PB and CLCE
sponsored community service project.
